Friday, March 24, 2023 - The Four Seasons Tasting 2005 Bordeaux Second Growth (Aubergine Restaurant): (Tasted Blind) 68 CS, 26 Merlot, 6 PV. The bouquet reveals cedar, graphite, cherry stone, cigar stub and dry earth. This opens to more cassis notes and ripe dark plum. Some more development is noted here with a cola tonic element.
The entry is more earthy and feral with a savoury complexity. There are dried herbs and more plums with a zesty acid note. The tannins feel thicker, and the wine is more extracted. Whilst there is the backbone, it hasn’t the depth of the Barton and feels a little muted in comparison. A long length, the feral note expands whilst some more evolved elements of undergrowth and leather appear.
