Thursday, February 20, 2020 - I gave this bottle a full 3.5 hour decant. Color was dark ruby on the tilt, purple opaque from the bottom. Upon first sniff, the nose revealed loads of cassis and blackberries, some oak camphor and a little mint. On the palate, black currants, oak, some blackberries, noticeable patchouli oils. The finish was still tannic with a major oak component, some briar patch fruits, ash, blackberry compote. As much hype as there was over the 2005’s, I stlll think that the incredible balance of the 2000’s are going to overshadow most of these wines when it comes to 2000 vs. 2005 vintage comparisons.
