Saturday, July 18, 2020 - Altamura is the quintessential Napa Cabernet in my mind. It's a in-your-face fruit bomb and it makes no apologies for it. However, it's got plenty of structure to balance the wine out , which allows it to age surprisingly well. If your preference is finesse (e.g. older Bordeaux) or Pinots with mouth puckering acidity (e.g. Burgundy), this isn't your wine (see note from "dream" for support of this argument).
What's so remarkable about Altamura cabs is the consistency from year to year. I've purchased cases every year of this wine and it delivers every time. My favorite years are '04, '06, '07, '08, and '12.
