Sunday, October 16, 2022 - Sunday Salon (Chicago, IL): Hands down the wine of the flight, even if I felt that the 2002 was encroaching a bit on this vintage's glory. A phenomenal bottle of champagne, and probably one of the best bottles of champagne that has been made in my lifetime so far. This really has it all. It kicks the concentration and intensity up to max -- it's a wine that's almost painful to drink quickly because of it. Mature, with developed secondary characteristics but still with plenty of exciting, primary acidity. It's really the complete package. With regards to bottle variation, the bottle today was likely sitting around my average.
