Saturday, July 28, 2018 - Domaine Bizot Collection Wine Dinner: 1415 bottles, 35 magnums, 4 jeroboams made.

Bottle uncorked in advance and poured into small white wine glasses acting as decanters for the guests. Assessed via Zalto Burgundy glass (“Root” day): Medium bright ruby.

Even better lift and bigger scale on the nose than the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru. Aromatically superior with ripe red and blue pinot fruits, hints of smoke, and good assortment of florals.

Relatively tight on the palate but has even better balance and integration than the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru. It yields good acidity and fruit flavours but it is holding back its generosity / complexity at this stage but you can sense the clear potential for the long term.

94-95 points.
