Friday, June 2, 2023 - I agree with recent reviews that this wine is just about past it’s awkward mid-teen state and is on the right path to full maturity. On opening there was some sneaker-shoe rubber smell and a little green twang. It was then decanted for 3 hours in a 3.0L ships decanter. The color is medium garnet working its way to light without any bricking or browning at the rim. The nose was a tad shy but spoke to vanilla, strawberrys and cream. The initial impression in the mouth was juicy but somewhat underripe blackberries (like, if we leave them for a few days they will sweeten, but who can resist the juicyness). subtly tart raspberries and a hint of citrus followed by sticks and dried leaves, light vanilla and cream. Finish is smooth and “floaty”.
It will be interesting to try this wine again in 2024 - 2026. I am not sure what it will become, but it will not be unpleasant.
