That could describe any decent champagne; this one has restrained elegance. Some nice toasty complexity starting to develop but will likely never overwhelm. With breathing, smoky hazelnuts slowly coming out and eventually take over— a clear BdB sign. While I’d be reluctant to turn down a glass of Krug or Bollinger, I’ve noticed that my taste is swinging much more towards vintage blanc de blancs. 2008 was an awesome vintage and this has all the right stuff. Will it beat 2008 Comtes de Champagne? Uh, no, but it’s also less than 1/3 the price. I will be interesting to compare it, however, with my bottles of ‘08 Bolly Grand Année. Something tells me this may go longer?
