Friday, September 20, 2019 - Another lost Friday afternoon gathering – 96 Dom, 08 Cristal and a Rudy blend (Blacksalt, Washington DC): It seems like a correct example. Dirty damp cellar, a bit green and soy. Excellent concentration, good acidity and still coarse tannins. The finish is very short due to the dirty damp cellar note. Rustic, charmless and dirty.

9/22/2019 12:48:00 AM - Interesting note. I've known this wine from its beginning and agree with your rustic and charmless assessment. I've never found the dirtiness -- I still have one bottle left, so we'll see. Grivot's plot is in the bottom third of the Clos. This wine is from the first part of Etienne Grivot's career and it took him some time to understand this parcel and how to adapt to it.

9/22/2019 7:05:00 AM - I visited Grivot and tasted with Mr. Grivot. The 16 and 17 Clos Vougeot are really nice.
