Saturday, February 8, 2020 - Served using a Coravin. Really needed the food and matched very well with the salt asked celeriac, oyster, cep and truffle. A great wine. Loads of life ahead.

If just the one plan a menu to suit when you have a special occasion. (just noticed my typo 'salt baked celeriac)

I have 2 so I will go with your advice. I am eager to try one.

What’s your overall opinion on the whites of Spain versus France or Italy? Thx!

My early dealings with the whites of Spain weren't good, but this was recommended by so many it was on my bucket list. (i've a 2004 white on the way). White Rioja are definitely food wines and most of my white consumption is pre dinner or with food white burgundy. I find that the reds in the £20 to £30 range offer great VFM compared to France although there are still great wines in France at that price. Happy drinking.

When you say white Rioja are “food wines”, what exactly do you mean by that? Thanks.

Meaning that most aged white Rioja like Tondonia are great to pair with food rather than drunk on there own as an aperitif. The structure and complex flavours can be enhanced by and compliment food. I use this site quite a lot. Not sure if it will work as a link on here. Hope this helps.
