Tuesday, January 22, 2008 - 2005 Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux Tasting (Drake Hotel, Chicago, Illinois): 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 5% Petite Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Another 2nd growth Margaux estate that did not do as well as it should have. This was a very good wine but I expected more. On the nose it had some brambly underbrush and cigar box. Dry with some tartness. Notes of cherry and raw meat. I liked the 2003 better. 89-90 points.
