Wednesday, October 26, 2016 - An aromatic wine right out of the gate at uncorking. Smoky currant and charred toast nose; as much Bordeaux as Californian characteristics. Full bodied palate. Very good flavor replays with sturdy tannins and balanced acidity. The fullness of the alcohol weighs on the finish.

Delightfully surprised with the 2013. I was anticipating another big, conventional, contemporary Californian and Cakebread delivered some genuine, traditional Cabernet (blend) characteristics. My only disappointment is in the high, 14.7% alcohol, but others will surely enjoy it for just that reason.
