Friday, August 19, 2022 - Yummmm. We bought this at the winery in 2017. We also walked the Bedrock vineyard in Sonoma Valley that year as well, checking out those gnarly old Zin vines. Mike Officer is good friends with Morgan Twain-Peterson and farms his own rows in the Bedrock old vine vineyard so this is from very old, dry, and organically farmed vines. Very seldom do we consume a wine of this quality without food, but with this I just popped it, gave it a quick decant, and filled glasses. I did pour only a little at a time to facilitate lots of swirling. It's delicious, it's drinking really well right now and has every thing we look for in a Zin: briary, brambly, well-integrated oak, soft tannins. What a pleasure! In my note from 2017, I wrote that it was big and bold, but 5 years has mellowed it out beautifully.
