Sunday, March 31, 2024 - Even though VHR is on the same Oakville terroir as Mayacamas and Harlin it somehow tastes so different to its cohorts.

This is the first of my 2014s and it was worth the wait, albeit that it still has improvement in it. After a three hour decant it was still a little reserved but gradually opened over the next 2-3 hrs to reveal a dark violet both in color and bouquet. On the palate there’s blackberry, black cherry and a little minerality. As it progressed there was cocoa and a lengthy finish.
