Saturday, July 23, 2016 - This 2004 is the current release from the winery so I can't understand how there are a few reviews on Cellartracker for younger vintages.

I think this Bodaga is on the rise, having cleaned up some of their winemaking practices.

This is good Rioja. Oddly my opinion has wavered across several bottles. First time it seemed surprisingly tight/young for a 12 year old wine. Other bottles less so. I can't decide if this is extraordinary good value, or just good value. I will try again.

8/4/2016 8:13:00 AM - Rioja is released when it's ready, which may not be in linear date order, hence the other reviews.

8/7/2016 8:32:00 AM - The official website lists the 2004 Reserva and 1995 Tondonia Gran Reserva as their most recent releases.

And I've yet to come across a Rioja producer that doesn't release in chronological order. That isn't to say somebody doesn't, but I have a feeling that the confusion has arisen over the advertising strapline of 'Rioja being released when ready' is that most appellations release wines when bottled, but Rioja undergoes extended ageing in both barrel and bottle before release.
