90 Points

Sunday, April 2, 2017 - A private lunch (Restaurant Breda, Amsterdam, NL): Classical style, leathery and spicy, cedar, cool and mineral, slender and elegant in style, medium weight, fresh, complex fruit (red berries, hint of plum), perfectly integrated oak, savoury touch, good intensity and length. It is a solid Rioja, but for some reason I was expecting more from this wine in a great vintage like 2004.

4/17/2017 10:56:00 AM - @macaujames: I find it hard to evaluate. For me it lacked fruit and energy, and it seemed older than its age. Maybe it was a poor bottle? I even liked the 2003 better and certainly the 2001. I won't go looking for this one, but I hope another bottle will come my way.
