Ratios should have been the other way around. Carignane can be generally described in three words: dull, dull, dull — especially when it gets old. I remember the old days of Pinot Noir, when they didn't know how to grow it or make it in California. They used to say that the best Pinot Noir had the most Carignane in the blend. That's how bad things were. Now, of course, Pinot Noir is much improved.
