2015 Château Cantemerle

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Saturday, April 14, 2018 - From a half, tasted over several hours. Seductively perfumed, with fruit blossoms, spring flowers, ripe berries, compote, and red fruit liqueurs draping graphite, loam, black earth, crushed rocks, and mineral undertones. Suave and inviting. Pithy red-fruited Merlot imparted elements are prominent forward, transiting to Cabernet Sauvignon essences and power at the middle, back, and finish. The wine's elegance, lift, and freshness mask impressive structure. Like so many 2015 vintage offerings, the ripeness level gives the impression of forwardness, and thus no more than medium term cellaring potential. With this wine, however, substance might reward the patient. Understated and an excellent value, worth stashing and enjoying at intervals over the next five to seven years to monitor its evolution. 93-94...95?

4/17/2018 5:21:00 PM - After I read your note I discovered that my local Total Wine has halves in stock.
So I went out and bought 4 asap, and I'll probably buy more.
