Colour: med deep red, thin rim, purple tinge.
Nose: full, ripe, v much led by CS fruit unsurprisingly. Opens up slowly into an opulent if cassis driven nose.
Taste: light body, rounded, ripe, pure cassis and brambles, good acidity, med tannins, long finish, ripe cassis and tannic touch.
Overall, a more classic Cantemerle than say the 2016, with which I will compare this at some point. At present up against Baron de Brane 2015 (see separate note), which sells for the same price.
Vacuvined the double decanted bottle and retried the following evening. Not much change and comes second to the riper, more sensuous B de B, which has a totally different assemblage:
57 % Merlot
39 % Cabernet Sauvignon
4 % Cabernet Franc
