Friday, January 7, 2022 - A good wine from a very average vintage, it has further evolved in the last year. It does need a few hours in the decanter, but I think it has hit its drinking window and found its identity. The palate is aromatic with blackcurrant and tobacco leaf with floral hints and is excellent. The palate is more austere than you would associate with a Lalande, but well balanced. Likewise the finish is uncharacteristically robust but with good lenghth and depth. There is potential upside as the tannin further sweetens but it is ready to drink now.
