I never had it back then, so cannot do a real comparison, but I did not experience any of those things. To me his was right down the middle, typical Chateauneuf du Pape. Dusty berry fruit, warm herbal tones and dry earth made up the medium weight package. It was enjoyable on its own, and a partner to food. It’s nothing profound, but it’s a very nice drink.
