Sunday, September 7, 2014 - Good ullage and cork completely soaked through. Popped and poured into a decanter and followed over about 2.5 hours though the wine didn't really change much. I love the smell of aged wine. Earthy, leather, tobacco notes that follow through on the palate. Light/medium weight. Light tannin and lots of acidity. There wasn't a lot of fruit remaining and I would say this is slightly unbalanced due to the high acid and lack of fruit. A touch of mint at first but that faded as the wine continued to open. I get the sense this bottle would have been better a few years ago when there may have been a little more fruit to balance everything. A fun experience drinking a wine from the year I graduated high school.
