Saturday, December 17, 2022 - Decanted prior to enjoying with a chargrilled ribeye, mushrooms, macaroni and cheese, and a fresh garden salad. Seems to be just entering its early drinking window. Displays a clear, deep ruby color, full bodied texture. A mix of youthful and developing characteristics: perfumed red flowers; lots of mocha; red and black currant; blackberry, blueberry, plum, and cherry fruits; cedar, and black mulchy soil. Although mostly primary there are faint hints of tobacco, leather, coffee and other more advanced notes trying to emerge. Tannins, oak and acidity are very much in a state of flux and need more time to come together. These structural elements support a very long, satisfying finish. Excellent right now with decanting and hearty food, but this will only improve with additional cellaring. Drink or hold through 2034+.
