Friday, November 10, 2017 - Very authentic and delicious Greek lunch at Bakalaki. Ordered a bottle off the strictly Greek wines only wine list. Drank over 1.5 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with fruity aromas of boysenberries, dark red cherries, black cherries, blackberries, macerated stewed berry compote, some stony earth minerality. Youthful.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), very soft supple medium+ tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of boysenberries, black cherries, blackberries, warm spices, very slight sweet chocolate oak. Long finish.
Very good quality. Polished, fruity, friendly and very approachable. Like an amiable Bro dude at a party. Lacks layers of complexity. So velvety soft. Seems to me that it is for drinking now and over the next 3+ years. Doesn't give me the impression it is for ageing.
