Monday, July 14, 2014 - Big, powerful, rich, tannic and packed with layer after layer of fruit. The wine coats your palate, the nose offers complexities, but the wine is still young at close to 30 years of age. There is a bit of grit to the tannins that was overwhelmed by the fruit, but you could feel a bit. If you can wait a decade, this should be even better as it is has all the raw materials for a long life.

7/14/2014 9:10:00 AM - Agree on the youthfulness, but the bottle we had last weekend showed some dryness with the tannins on the finish. It was not the best bottle I've had of the '86 and was bested by the '89 Lynch Bagues. Hope the fruit wins out with some additional cellar time. Thanks for the note, timely.
