Saturday, February 1, 2020 - 2015 Voyager Estate Chardonnay was a perfect pair with lobsters, given its buttery and citrus notes. The Margaret River Chardonnay was pale lemon in colour without any sediments. There were aromas of lemon zest, ripe pears, apples and blossoms, followed by vanilla, toast and butter. On the palate, the oaked Chardonnay was dry and full-bodied, with rounded creamy texture and medium level of balancing acidity. The long aftertaste resembled butter and tart au citron.
The intense oak, malolactic and sur lie elements of this New World Chardonnay might not please all drinkers, and might seem a bit excessive when consumed alone, but it paired wonderfully with fresh Canadian lobsters.
