Sunday, October 17, 2004 - Encouraged by other postings, I cracked one of these. Healthy purple color with lovely clarity. Huge, immediate, and sustained nose of garrigue, pepper, licorice, and BBQ sauce. This was the best part of the experience in my humble opinion. The palate evolved over several hours. Initially mostly pepper, spices, and jammy flavors, with almost a tart effect; however after 3 hours it definitely drilled downward and offered immense concentration and a wonderful presence on the finish. Powerful tannins present, moderately grained and balanced by broad currents of red fruit. Yoh, so this is what "traditional" CdP is supposed to taste like. Could definitely grow hair on one's chest. Should be near monumental in 3 to 5 years.
