91 Points

Thursday, January 13, 2011 - Deep garnet colour with some browning on the rim. Second time I have this wine in a shoret period. It is very interesting and complex but it has began to fade especially in the nose where there are signs of overripeness and burned aromas. At a lower temprerature these are less evident and the wine is more enjoyable. Aromatically the wine shows overripe fruit like fig and plum, tar, ash and leathery aromas and texture is supple, full and soft with lingering finish. Similar profile to the Pegau Reserve of the same vintage but Pegau was 100% healthy while this is sliding quickly down the slope. If not for the burnt aromas, the wine would merit a much higher score due to its complexity.
