91 Points

Monday, July 30, 2012 - Color was medium ruby -> light garnet/orange rim. On the nose there was lots of barnyard funk, peppers & olives and a wonderful melange of what I think of as CDP spice. On the palate once again plenty of spiciness, garrigue, roasted peppers and herbs. Good structure; rustic though -- like CDP's of old. Medium to medium-long finish that ends up being slightly bitter. I think I might have scored this slightly higher but for that bitterness. As others have noted, the wine looked advanced for only being a '98.
