Friday, April 26, 2013 - What an unexpected pleasure this was! I had high hopes it would be very good at age 15 but this totally blew me away. The nose was so Grand Cru / $300 plus Burgundian with intense damp forest floor aromas. Decanted 1/2 hour before tasting and immediately poured into Burg glasses. Very tight on the nose for the first 20 minutes and then slowly became amazing! Worth it just for the nose. The spicy soil tone flavors carried over to the palate which was almost perfection except for some ever so slightly rustic tanins at the end. The tanins are barely worth mentioning except I have to be completely objective. Terrific with grilled pork chops! Just awesome! I have three 01s in waiting but I definitely need more Donjon even if the price tag now is double the $30 price tag for this btl.
