Monday, November 28, 2005 - Slowly dipping into these. This opened quite reticent - ungiving nose and fairly muted palate. Then the wine starts its striptease - every time we came back to it, the wine showed us a little more. Once open, the nose starts to display quite a lot of black pepper, saddle leather and red fruit. The palate spreads out more as the night continues. Sadly, by the time was hitting full stride it was drained. All my experiences with this bottling lead me to urge others to decant this wine for several hours before getting into it. And from now on, I'm taking my own advice.
