Sunday, July 24, 2016 - The Schild is a gorgeous, lush, full-bodied mouthful of a wine. First introduced to the 2008 vintage thanks to the inclusion in the WS ranking, picked up the 2009 based on the prior year's reputation. Powerful nose of dark fruit, heavy on black cherry in particular. That core of dark fruit is accompanied by chocolate, pepper and hints of tobacco. A chewy mouthful made more intense by big, soft tannins that add complexity of structure. Heated finish that lasts a good 45 seconds. Great wine, super well made. Sadly my last bottle in the cellar.
