2014 Failla Pinot Noir Peay Vineyard

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Sunday, November 5, 2023 - Pretty red-fruited nose, with notes of hibiscus, sour cherry, and crushed strawberries and whispers of spice. The palate is just past midweight (listed @ 13.7%) with vibrant acidity and subtle, but present, tannins. Flavors of red stone fruit, raspberry, and fresh turned earth dominate. Some oak, but more of a rumor than a sighting. A good deal of sucrosity/glycerin here, lending a juiciness to the proceedings. This has maybe more generosity than I typically associate with Peay, but I’ll be damned—it’s good! Real good, in fact. Shining with pan-roasted duck breast from Riverside Butcher-shop, honey-glazed carrots, and braised local spinach. Cheese to follow. Re-buy? At the right price, without hesitation.
