Tuesday, March 17, 2020 - It was served as a Digestif after some excellent Flannery beef and garden veggies. I found this buried in the cellar during inventory last weekend. Seemed like a good time to check in on some crack five years from vintage. Wow, it's a different wine. The bright vibrancy of youth has evolved into a smoother, softer, and more interesting juice. It has this subtle and sublime freshness instead of this smack you in the face vibrancy of youth. The finish is impressively long (that hasn't changed). Think crisp Melon, Lime, hints of peach just linger on the palate. This may be known as the crack but there is complexity here! Quaffable but serious juice. I don't know if this will get better but it certainly seems youthful at 5 years old. Only by direct comparison would you guess this is five years old, its still a vibrant wine. I doubt I ever will know what a 10-year-old bottle tastes like. Amazing QPR. The only sad part is CT says I have just 1 of 12 bottles left.

My original comments:

Fresh Playful and just delicous aromas of flowers and pear. bright acidity to play off the ripeness of the fruit and a great crisp finish. It reminds me of Reisling, which I believe is what its mostly but there more going on here. Like most whites IMO, its better and far more complex closer to room temp. Spouse and I both love this wine. Our guests do too... Disappears fast when opened. Excited, even this most inexpensive of their bottlings are still using a DIAM closure. Another great wine from Marcus Goodfellow.
