Saturday, June 1, 2019 - Lightly decanted for an hour and a half. At first, tobacco/cigar and dark fruit playing coy from the shadows. After giving it even more air, it opens up more and blackberry/black cherry, and a big swath of minerality. On the palate, much less reserved with racy black cherry, a splash of cassis, followed by mouth filling tannins, and lastly a spicy acidity finish. As with mauritson's other wines, concentrated, but balanced acidity and tannins. Maybe not quite as complex as the $48 price tag, but well made and enjoyable.

48% Cabernet, 47% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot at 14.75 abv, 22 months in French, % new unspecified.

Paired with a flat iron steak cooked Jamie Oliver style in a cast iron skillet with a quinoa, spinach, almond, roasted tomato salad.
