Does not like this wine:

75 Points

Thursday, September 29, 2016 - Appearance - inky ruby. Sediment in bottle around neck after first pour. In the glass, you get those see through little bubbles/particulates on the sides of the glass

Nose - when I first pulled the cork I worried a bit that it might be corked. With some air I'm starting to get more hopeful aromas but.....I may have a flawed bottle here. Ugh.

Ok - getting ripe blackberries. Wet dirt. Like the smell after you water a thirsty plant. Spearmint. Some alcohol burn on nose. Medium intensity. Smells...somewhat developing

Palate - medium plus intensity, medium plus acidity, tannins are a bit pronounced where you feel them line your gums. Fruit is there, again, the blackberries, and sort of jammy, but there is a real bitterness on the palate, not in a good way. The wine does not feel balanced, you notice components but things aren't working well together. There is s bitter pithy quality you might find from a grapefruit. The tannins feel like you are sucking on a tea bag. The finish is medium plus, but given all I've described, probably one where you actually would prefer it to fade pretty quickly.

The label touts this as an "elegant" wine. A "very elegant" wine. I'm going to disagree. At least not upon first open.

I went with the importer, Monsieur Touton, where I have had luck in the past. Would not buy again.

9/30/2016 2:30:00 PM - Better day 2 - not corked or flawed. At this price point, I would want something low maintenance PnP
