2016 Black Hills Estate Nota Bene

Friday, March 8, 2024 - On the nose the age is evident… with tertiary characteristics of earth, tobacco & almost a garrigue note.

Dark cherry & some green pepper from the Cab Franc. (damn you, IBMP!)

Lots of complexity here - surprisingly high acidity, too - makes me think there's still more years ahead for this vintage.

In Burgundy it is often blamed on ladybus in the crush. Sometimes I find wine yucky because of it, and sometimes I hardly notice it - in the SAME wine!
Also, I don't smell it when I sniff ladybugs.
