Thursday, June 15, 2017 - The primetime 1997 Angelus is clearly an overachiever in this difficult vintage. Boasting a dense garnet robe this classy concoction delivers enticing aromas of fruit sponge cake, damp forest floor, wild berries and hints of cigar humidor. It is medium to full bodied, perfectly mature and loaded with deliciously intertwined layers of dark chocolate syrup and Grand Marnier. The finish is subtle yet irresistibly silky. While fully mature this is nowhere near the end of its prime and should continue to provide pleasure in the glass for at least another five years.
