Saturday, September 14, 2013 - Pop and pour, intense light gold. Expressive nose of smoke, marzipan, yellow fruits, apricot, a hint of botrytis, ginger candy, lanoline and crème brulee. Ripe yellow fruits but not tropical. The beguiling dense yet airy texture that one finds only in Chevalier Montrachet and Montrachet. Sweet ripe fruits, excellent concentration, bright acidity, saline, noticeable mineral presence and piercing acidity. Initially a hint of oak that clips the finish but with time it dissipates. With air, the nose expression comes together nicely and becomes singular. A perfectly matured GC burgundy, the reason why some of us can’t give up white burgundy.
