Sunday, March 22, 2015 - Angus Barn, watching NC State defeat Villanova in the 2015 NCAA tournament. Beautiful coppery-red color- I uploaded the pic of the glass and decanter in the label images; it was too beautiful not to share though I should have staged the bottle in the pic. Candied orange, light apricot marmalade, and honey with hints of pineapple, apricot creme brûlée, and some baked honey-ginger spiced-brown sugar from aging. The acidity was still on point and while the flavors were more subtle than a younger Sauternes, everything was well integrated and the smoother acid edge allowed for a seamless transition across the palate. Plenty of length on the finish and surprising palate development for 39 years. $80 for the 750 mL and a solid A+ overall rating.
