94 Points

Sunday, April 22, 2007 - Dinner at Siggy's House (Delas, l'Evangile, Quiceda, Pax, Alban): Decanted a few hours before serving. My first Quilceda, and what an introduction. The color is an inky black/deep red. The nose is very intriguing, offering refined fruit of blackberries and blueberries mixed with meat, spice (cinnamon?), oak/vanilla, and something akin to brown sugar. Really a unique and interesting concoction. The first thing you notice when you taste is the searing tannins. The taste is dominated by concentrated, liquor-like black fruit with some spice. Extremely well balanced and controlled. I would guess this will merit a score in the range 94 - 96 with a few years of bottle age, but wouldn't be surprised if it was even better.
