88 Points

Thursday, August 13, 2009 - Popped and poured. Crimson-ruby colored. Lots of menthol and cherry upfront, a combo that reminded me a bit of young Barolo, joined by some cola and tarry aspects on the palate. A lot to like there. But it's a little hollow on the mid palate and still feels a little young and all over the place, like it might come around with a little more bottle age. 88 now, but the raw materials seem to be in place for some positive mid-term evolution. 88+.
