93 Points

Monday, April 3, 2023 - Stood up for weeks and decanted, surprisingly minimal sediment for nebbiolo. Will give this some air as right now it seems a bit closed.
90 min decanted: Light ruby, slight bricking though youthful color for nebbiolo; aromatic, has definitely blown off some initial funk, showing mostly balsamic but also with some red cherry fruit; light bodied, high acidity, medium-plus alcohol (14%, very balanced for the vintage), tannins are approachable but still high throughout the palate, fruit is entering a more mature phase; finish is medium length. Very nice, seems like it's drinking well now but will also probably age for a while. Perhaps not as striking as my first few bottles in its youth, though with air this may continue to improve as it has since I opened it. 92-93 for now.
5 hours decanted: This reached a plateau. Very nice food-friendly nebbiolo-based Ghemme, a bit less showy than my last bottle 2 years ago but showing the balsamic character of age that I enjoy, along with a bit of tar and red cherries. I'll probably start drinking these and finish in the next ~5 years.
