Monday, May 1, 2023 - I guess many of us have a special producer or two that hold special places- Emidio Pepe is one of mine. The degree to which these wines are so stunningly pure, yet complex and engaging, is always a beautiful thing. The '14 is still young, its got the Pepe freshness that really shows in its youth. But the nose is starting to give tertiary development of earth and florals alongside fresh crushed berries. Red fruit, followed by salinity and a rocky essence. Crunchy and racy and raw, yet so elegant. Singular.
