Thursday, August 27, 2020 - Color: black? A very dark ruby
Nose: pure cherry, just ripe. Oak, vanilla. Strawberry coulis. A herbal or medicinal note. Sandalwood too
Palate: medium-high acidity and medium-high tannins, well-integrated but still firm. Has cherry and sandalwood in evidence. The alcohol is notable, and along with a certain bitterness makes for an amaro effect.
Finish: long

Decanted 6 hours and it needed it - purity of flavors and power are impressive and peculiar. Can go a long time in cellar. I really don't get the hate on this one: it's a long way from peak but it is very compelling as a meditation piece or with starker meats. Truly italian, in the sense that tannins and acidity and structure are the main show, and not sidekicks to truckloads of fruit
