Friday, May 13, 2011 - 4/12. Decanted 1/2 an hour. Deep garnet core, medium pale ruby rim. Deep, sweet bouquet, showing reasonable development. Blackcurrant fruit, hints of tobacco and minerals, quite sweet and rich. Medium/full bodied on the palate, sweet, slightly minerally blackcurrant fruit, some brighter red fruit notes, cedar, quite rich but also very structured with fine, but still slightly firm tannins and lovely, vibrant acidity. Finish is very long. Excellent, if not quite my preferred style. Needs a few more years to be at its absolute peak, but reasonably approachable now.
