Wednesday, October 15, 2014 - On the front of the palate, this is very herbal: cilantro, celery root, fennel seed. On the mid palate the fruit hits: cherry and plum with wodd and then curry spice. On the finish, you get some licorice and then that chocolate minty taste. Well-integrated oak. It could have aged longer, though it was drinking well now.
I really liked this wine. It was an excellent match with rack of lamb with a curry date paste. The curry flavor matched the wine perfectly, as did the braised fennel. This was also very nice with a pork roast on day 2. Very impressive, especially for what I paid for it. It’s worth $40, I think.
This needed about an hour to decant, but not too much more. Best in Sommeliers Hermitage glass.
