89 Points

Thursday, January 13, 2011 - Consumed over three days. Initially showed fairly big, dark in color with some ruby at the rim; fairly ripw, showing primarily black cherry fruit. Over time, this wine mellowed considerably, improving in my opinion, suggesting that I am probably drinking these too soon (but these are what keep my hands off the estate wines). By day three, the fruit profile had transformed more to strawberry, with some muddled compote, orange peel, bay leaf and sous-bois undertones. Now deftly balanced with some bright acidity. Not my favorite Alesia, and I do prefer the style of the more recent vintages, but this bottle showed pretty well.
