Wednesday, May 31, 2017 - Slightly cloudy, making the wine look rather opaque, with a color of slightly rusty brown with a light cherry red hue. Very pungent and oxidative nose with aromas of walnuts, syrup, a little bit of chocolate fudge, hints of baked apple and a touch of roasted almonds. Smells very much past its prime. Full-bodied, old and spicy on the palate with flavors of Tawny Port nuttiness, died sour cherries, some salted peanuts, a little bit of bitterness, a hint of aldehydic salinity and a touch of pungent green almond notes of oxidation. Quite high in acidity with moderately grippy tannins. The finish is quite intense and focused with old, bitter flavors of roasted nuts, robust oxidative smoky character, mocha, some cold filter coffee and a hint of aldehydic saline tang.

Past its prime. More or less thoroughly oxidized with only small remnants of fruit left in the midpalate. Very little left of the original wine, so this one can be marked as "oxidized" pretty easily. Offers very little to none enjoyment.
