Thursday, February 1, 2024 - I loved this last year and so opened another one to check in. It's still pretty dang good.

Olive tapenade, tea leaves, colatura di alici, cocoa powder, tobaccco, ripe black cherries and ripe red raspberries on the nose. Astringent, with a medium intensity of aromas. It smells like it's going to be elegant and subtl. The palate is actually a bit bigger; showing the same black cherries but acccompanied by ripe blueberries, tomato leaf, lemon juice, fennel seed and bitter herbs. Finishes with the citrus as well as fresh chopped cilantro and mint. Medium + intensity of flavors.

Medium body with medium + acid and nice medium lingering tannins, which are strongest on the tongue. Nice medium + length of finish too. Needs food, otherwise it's just too astringent. Great (if non-traditional) pairing with goulasch soup. (Gulyas). Structurally, this can age even longer, where it will also gain some cool tertiary notes. I wonder if bottle age will increase the intensity of aromas as well.
