Friday, February 23, 2018 - Upon opening, the wine was super dark in color, and very closed down in taste. It needed at least half a day to start singing. The wine’s energy in the mouth was still towards the back, as the finish was oaky. With the oak, came tastes of cocoa, vanilla, and espresso.

The fruit tastes began as very dark, blackberry and black cherry. It lightened up a bit to include red fruits, and maybe just a tiny hint of blueberry?

This is a serious wine. But it’s difficult to tell if I just opened it too early, and the wine will become fantastic in three to five years. Or, is it just too ripe, and too heavily oaked?
